Today, our MD Innocent Rutebuka and Chairman of the Board Seth Ndayishimye had an honour to participate at Reimagining Teachers and Teacher Education for our Futures International Research Conference at the University of Helsinki, Finland, where we were invited to present multistakeholder engagement during the development of the Finnish-Rwandan collaboration project, which Hills Connect facilitated. The 3-years Project HEP-TED – Higher Education Pedagogies for Teacher Education financed by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the tune of 1,1M€ is about capacity building and knowledge sharing between Higher Educational Council(HEC), University of Rwanda College of Education(UR-CE), and Rwandan Polytechnic(RP) on the Rwandan side and University of Helsinki, Tampere University, Tampere University of Applied Sciences(TAMK) and Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences(JAMK) on the Finnish side gathered in the Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning(GINTL).
On the panel, our Chairman reiterated the importance of involving diaspora and civil society organisations who know both cultures and contexts when new countries to each other discusses collaborations and partnerships. This will among other things smoothen the development process.
As part of the Rwanda Community Abroad -Finland / Rwanda Community in Finland and Friends, Hills Connect is humbled to have played this role and thus to have given back to the community back home through these efforts to improve the quality of education.
Stay tuned, more interesting initiatives in the pipeline!
